I love the blending of colors you did on this one, the wings look realistic. Only thing I could think of that you could've done to make it better is to put a hint of shading around the outside of the wings so they looked like they were standing off the skin just a little. You're really becoming quite the tattoo artist - keep up the good work!

Thanks for the ideas and comments. I have come to the realization lately that I feel my tattoos are missing "backgrounds".

I will be using this idea soon.

An early tattoo that I did on my husband looks like it's just floating there, with no ground underneath and no background and it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out what could be done around it to make it look 'finished'. I haven't mastered smoke or clouds (traditional tattoo backgrounds) even on paper, yet, and I prefer to stay away from anything too cliche'. Don't worry so much about how 'other tattoo artists do it', take a little time to create your own way. Looking at flash it's obvious that this art form could use some fresh ideas and inspiration.
